Are "Develop Your Solar Panel Packages" Worth Contemplating?

By Gregory Gray

Have you heard about the new build your own solar panel kits they're selling nowadays? They're truly quite simple to install and are very economical when you get them going.

Solar power is definitely a superb source of alternative energy. It is replaceable, so it cannot be exhausted. It leaves no derivatives so it is environment-friendly. The sole problem it probably has is when it is clouded or stormy out of doors; this may seriously affect its strategy of gathering energy.

It is feasible to buy a kit over the Net and assemble it yourself. Transforming available and existing solar power into electrical energy may now be done right in your own house. Essentially, the amount of wattage that you choose for your solar panels as well as the amount of direct sunlight received will define the amount of power that can be stored as potential energy.

One of the better things in having the ability to generate electricity by yourself is if you've got an excess fuel, you'll sell the excess power to electrical firms. This is referred to as a grid on and grid off application. This puts you in a pleasing situation where you can sell electricity straight back to your localized utility district.

There are some applicable issues to think about prior to making your call to install such a power system in your house. Purchasing solar panel kits is like making an investment, right? Now, when we invest, we would wish to recover them. Thus, it is vital to ascertain that once you make a decision to install solar panels in your house, you won't be moving out of that house before you have had the chance to get back your investment.

Make sure that a big portion of your roof is open to exposure to direct daylight. This is very crucial since solar cells react best with direct daylight. If most of your roof area is being shaded by gigantic trees, then your panels may not be able to gather enough power. You might also wish to check if your roof would be safe and comfortable enough for you to spend at least 6 hours in installing and wiring your panels. If you are not that assured working on your roof for that long, then you may want to hire somebody else to install them for you.

Chlorine-Free Shower Filters Gaining Popularity

By Jeff Wise

Word is spreading about chlorine-free shower filters but many people are wondering why it's necessary to have one. After all, you don't drink the water in your shower. How could it be harmful?

Actually, chlorine in your shower is even more harmful than the chlorine in your drinking water. Chlorine is very toxic and depending on the level of exposure and length of use you can experience side effects anywhere from headaches to lung collapse.

Chlorine from the shower affects the body in different ways from chlorine in the drinking water. Showers generally use warm or hot water, and the heat opens the pores, allowing chlorine to enter the skin. Also, chlorine turns into a gas known as chloroform and is inhaled, getting into the blood stream. This consumption is 50 times more dangerous than just drinking chlorine.

A shower filter is also good because it removes water-soluble heavy metals that are also harmful to the body. Therefore, with a shower filter you have clean, harmless water.

Since people are becoming more aware of the dangers caused by chlorine in showers, these filters are gaining popularity. Showers free of chlorine and metals leave people feeling more fresh and safe.

Owning a chlorine-free shower filter will help reduce damage to hair and skin. They can also remove bad odors and decrease the amount of mold and fungi build-up in the shower.

This type of shower filter works as a Catalytic Converter. It transforms chlorine into chloride, which is harmless. This chemical reaction is known as "Reduction-Oxidation" or Redox. Chloride cannot get into the skin because it's too large to enter the pores. It also doesn't evaporate like chlorine.

It's good that more people are thinking about chlorine, not only in their drinking water but also in their shower water. This chemical can cause harmful effects and it's important to do everything you can to avoid exposure to this toxin.

Buying A Hybrid Car To Save On Gas

By Owen Jones.

When you drive up to the gas station pump and fuel your car up with $10-$70 worth of gas, you may find yourself heaving a huge out sigh. How on Earth did petrol get to be so expensive? Should you consider one of those new hybrid cars you saw on the news? Everyone's talking about hybrid cars anyway. Hybrid cars and other types of cars may seem like a good idea, but before you go out and do something you'll regret, perhaps you should ask yourself some basic questions about how you can begin saving money on gas.

There are so many options now including everything from staying home to buying a hybrid car, but you have to find out what is best for you. You can only do that by asking yourself the following questions.

Perhaps you should drive less often?

Of course, you could spend the rest of your life at home watching TV, but how would you eat then? I know what you're thinking you will walk more and get more exercise. That may be true, but what happens when you get bored with walking and riding your bike? How are you going to be able to get to the gymnasium? And, have you forgotten about work? You know you love listening to your books on tape while you sit in traffic at the end of the workday. Should you drive less? Perhaps not then. But what should you do? Well, have you ever considered buying a hybrid car?

Should I buy a car that gets more miles for less gas?

Yes, of course you could do this, but what about when the vehicle starts to get older and it becomes less fuel-efficient than you thought it would be? Moreover, because you know you have a car that is getting more mileage per dollar, you are going to start driving more miles than you travelled beforehand.

Should I get up earlier each morning to look for the cheapest gas prices in the area?

Really, who has the time to do all that? If you really think about it, you would probably spend your time better finding the right answer to the real question. Do you really want to spend extra time looking for a cheap petrol station? What would your boss think if you arrive late for work and tell him you were trying to save money on petrol? And anyway, how long do you think you'd keep that up?

Should I find a way to run my car on electric batteries?

Well, you certainly don't want to have to recharge your car every day before you go to work because that might make you late as well. With a hybrid car, you wouldn't have to worry about that. Therefore, the next question should be obvious.

Should I purchase a hybrid car?

Maybe you should. It's possible that buying a hybrid car would be a sensible way to avoid high petrol prices. Does your car depreciate after you drive it off the forecourt? A hybrid won't do that so readily. It brings the buyer in more and more money as they save on gas. A hybrid car just might be a good choice here. However, it's still a good idea to conduct further research before buying a hybrid car.

Varieties of Wood Species, Figured Wood, and Burls

By Curtis Cadenza

For those who may not be familiar with woodturning, I will outline a definition for it. This art form is an ancient process that began in the third century BC by the Egyptians. Of course, today, the machinery is much more practical and modern. Woodworkers prefer using soft woods, such as Maple, for turning bowls and pens, as it is cut more easily than hardwoods like Oak.

There are several varieties of trees used in woodworking, and knowing the right one to use for a specific item is of great value, especially for beginners. Most hardwoods can be used for anything from bowls to beds, and everything in between! Frequently, beautiful markings lie within the rough bark of these types of trees. One person may look at a pile of wood as simply firewood, while another recognizes its potential for creating beautiful works of art. For instance, figured Madrone wood comes from slow-growth trees and is often very costly. The unique patterns that are seen in this particular variety are absolutely beautiful.

A tutorial on wood burls:

It seems everyone has at one time or another noticed large bumps on trees, known as burls. From my experience, burls are created by stress being applied to the tree. Stress can be caused from mold, insects, or a continually damp climate. Burls typically are formed in an erratic way, looking deformed against the shape of the tree, but are very valuable to those who have a creative ability to use them. Many finished wood pieces created from a burl's figured wood can be found on display in art museums around the world.

A three-dimensional block of wood, sometimes sanded, or sometimes turned rough, is called a "blank", and represents the beginning of a beautiful piece of art. If only a hobby, or a way of life for the woodworker, it remains cost-effective to buy the blanks in larger quantities. Figured Pen blanks are used specifically for creating pens.

Due to the articulate grain patterns caused by burls, they are highly prized and often expensive, but work beautifully as a foundation from which large objects may be sculpted.

Since maple woodturning blanks and wood burls are the most popular to work with, they are also the most expensive. Especially, their burls can be used to produce artistic pieces of great quality. What may be seen as "defects" by many, a wood turner makes into beautiful conversation pieces, which can hold great value, both monetary and sentimental.

The Greening of the Auto Shipping Industry

By Tom Kearns

Due to the increasing evidence of our planet's destruction by environmental pollution and the growing concern among nations, industries have stepped up their efforts to operate in an increasingly environmentally clean manner with large established companies in wealthier nations leading the way. The public awareness has increased to the extent that the waiting list for hybrid cars is growing longer and longer.

Landfill waste and energy consumption is reduced through green homebuilding, which seems to have caught on. Cities start campaign such as those meant to reduce electricity consumption by up to 80% through replacement of regular light bulbs for more effective and economic innovative illumination. One can see great transparent plastic containers in public squares half-filled with discarded bulbs or batteries.

Auto shipping companies are following this path and are attempting to stop the depletion of our natural resources and to reduce global warming. The auto shipping is a rather recent development and is experiencing massive growth in our increasingly global society. Because of their newness, they are keenly aware of modern problems such as environmental pollution of all kinds and have been part of the green movement for years, with very little fanfare.

It is undoubtedly due to this new emergence of the industry that they are able to understand their potential for cleaning up the planet. In the wake of serious environmental pollution caused by container vessels, oil freighters and trucks, to name a few of the master polluters, they must put a great deal of effort into innovative technology to avoid future accidents in their own shipping industry as well as in others. They desire to do this because it is the right thing to do for the environment and the right thing to do for the economic survival of this huge and burgeoning industry.

It is estimated that a single fairly large auto shipping company can save up to three million gallons of fuel, which means more than 38 million pound less greenhouse gases in our immediate atmosphere. And the number of expanding auto transport companies worldwide is enormous, many of them already gigantic corporations. Their number are likely only to grow with time and globalization.

The benefits derived from environmentally friendly auto shipping companies alone are staggering even using simple math to calculate them. In the theoretical case of only one auto shipping company per state national savings would be approximately 150 million gallons of fuel prudently unused and as much as 2 billion pounds of greenhouse gases prevented from poisoning the atmosphere. You do not have to do the actual math to see that if only half of all existing national auto shipping companies united in the effort the results could be staggering savings and crucial progress towards a greener technological civilization.

Many vehicles are still being personally driven, of course, and the auto shipping companies alone will not be the answer to the global problem, but the leading names in the industry can be proud of their significant contribution and may be set as an example of future-oriented modern industries who soberly realize that their future depends on the stability of national and international climate and who manage, despite the daunting complexities of the challenge, to make the transition to greener operation while remaining at the top of the industrial world.

Wind Energy Turbines- Many Choices to Meet Your Needs

By Paris Eckton

Are you looking to help save the planet and your wallet by using sustainable energy? If so, then can give you what you are looking for with the many different options that are available to you. You will even have the added benefit of minimal upkeep on these environment friendly models. Like any other product you buy, there are a few things you should take into consideration when you are looking at wind turbine plans for you.

One of the things you will want to understand when you are considering wind energy turbines is how they actually work. Basically, they work the opposite of a fan. When you use a fan, there is a power source that makes the blades of the fan turn, giving you wind to cool you off or circulate air. With wind power turbines though the wind is what makes the blades turn. This effect spins the shaft, which is connected to a generator, where it is then converted into electricity. Even though this may not sound very impressive, there are even certain areas of the country where multiple windmills are used to power an entire grid.

Once you have a grasp of how energy is created from the wind energy turbines, you are ready to take a look at the different factors to consider when looking at using this type of green energy. If you just want to power your house, then you should be fine to use a smaller unit, which can turn out 100 kilowatts. If you need to power a farm or even multiples housing units, there are industrial sized units for this as well. There are two different types of turbine that you can purchase. One type works off of a vertical axis, while the other uses a horizontal axis to create power. This is an important consideration when making your decision. The most common is the horizontal windmills, which are great for areas that are upwind.

If you are looking to get optimum results from your wind turbine, there are a few tips you should consider. There are some models you can purchase that will actually attach directly to your roof, which can be ideal. However, if you want to boost the amount of energy you will receive, you want to have the windmill stand higher in the air, where more air will hit it. This may come with a higher price tag, but depending on your situation, may actually be a better alternative. A local contractor that works with wind turbines can give you the best idea of what will work best for you.

If you want to help protect our natural resources and save money, going green is the best option out there. Over time, you can save a lot of money with a wind turbine. You can even receive some of the many great government incentives for sustainable energy. Wind energy turbines are a great solution because they give you many choices without taking up a lot of space.
